Grapefruit.
First off let me praise this movie for pretty much everything about it.
The cinematography, score, acting, and atmosphere is fantastic.
That said it’s a pretty devastating movie that crossed a few lines for me.
Despite the stereotype of horror fans being into splatter fests there is a huge difference between say Friday the 13th and this movie.
While those are fun campy sequences no one in their right mind would take seriously (Except Siskel and Ebert for some reason…) this is a realistic deception of really horrible things happening to actual children (not 30-years-olds playing teenagers).
I’m absolutely not saying it should be banned or that you’re a sicko if you like this movie it’s just my personal opinion.
I really got to give this two reviews.
If it were a technical review I’d give it a 90/100 it’s legitimately that good and it’s hard to believe the directors are that young.
It’s also a huge improvement over “Talk to Me” which was really good too.
But with my own personal biases and enjoyment of the movie I’d give it 64/100.
I’m glad it’s not in my collection because I don’t think I would ever watch it again but I’m still happy I saw it.
The only other complaint I have is that the directors films tend to focus on sibling relationships and while that’s understandable (given they are siblings) I’d like to see them tackle another type of story.
Until then I’m Nathan Edward Priem and THAT was something else…
